Manila April 101

I MISSSSSSSSSSSSS MANILA. But it's good to be home. I'm here in the province now, resting my shit and figuring out what's good for me. CHOSSSS! Well it's just good to be back home with my dogs and just having a long rest....what a slacker . Drinking is free and so as the food. Sorry for not updating that much as I'm just taking my break from the city. But will be back in action soon. But thanks for April. April was so much fun. YA KNOW. I miss these guys.

Filling Station

Well have you guys been to filling station??? It's around the corner of makati ave, somewhere there near the red light district and near the brothel houses. lol. But yeah seriously this place is whaack. Just like Whitney Houston. "crack is whack". This is where we did our "WASHING" for beer heads like them not me. Filling Station is open 24 hours! AWESOME. This place is epic and vintage.

seriously i want a rotary phone... but how do you "please press 5 for promos and special offers" lol
nice.

Wee Nam Kee

Never pass on the best Hainanese Chicken in Manila. Wee Nam Kee is a franchise from Singapore. The ones in Bangkok are so good that it almost felt like I was drawn back to Thailand. AHH it's sooooo good, I could never say pass to it. Wee Nam Kee is located at Ayala Triangle. SO WORTH IT. Best if you choose the steamed one rather than the roasted option. HUNGREEH FOR MORE.

sauces: oyster sauce, ginger and chili. mix them all.
how could you say no to this beautiful bird?!!?!?
The Frazzled Cook

You know it took us a while searching and looking for the meaning of frazzled. Its root word is fray and I don't know what to say anymore... But this is my new favorite place to eat. After a looooooong time. If you've been to Fat Michael's Place in Bangkal and fell in love with it and which is already closed by the way, well there are reasons to visit The Frazzled Cook, since this their resurrection of another eclectic restaurant. The eclectic feel is justtt so nice and homey and very intimate. While you wait for your food, have time to take photos around the place but don't get crazy like us, cause I think we took advantage of the place since no one was around. It's just embarrassing. I loved the uneven pieces of furniture, the books, the portraits, stickers, trinkets. But the the food by the way wasssssssssss sooo perfect in every way. Each order had an idea of its own which is just undoubtedly good, even if the cook was frazzled, he still nailed it. lol.Try their pancake a la mode. It's gorgeous and crispy. It's heaavunnn.

let the paisley wall and Nascita di Venere lead you to the restroom.

What's the 411???

Yesterday, I really didn't know what was happening back the in the Philippines, until my twitter feed started becoming ballistic over this Mendoza guy, who was a former police, dismissed due to extortion and other allegations, who then took full control of the bus and started showering bullets after seeing his brother being manhandled by the local police. Great. Just great. I don't really know the exact story but I can tell that this guy is psychotic and so as the Philippine National Police.

Ugh anyway. ulk. Sorry I've been really busy guys. Waaaazzzzzzappp? I'm good. I'm feeling sick today. My throat is killing me and yet till now, I'm devouring over this piece of sticky bun! I smell fever coming soon. I've been watching this show called "The Best Thing I Ever Ate". It features food network chefs and other foodie personalities sharing their "best thing I ever ate" experiences. It was 2am and I was watching this show, I was hungry... andthen Bobby Flay started unraveling that brioche dough with caramel and pecans and it was justtt... OOOHHH..."I WANT THAT!!!" Watch it guys. But don't watch it with an empty stomach. It will be the worst torture.

Going back to culinary school. Well everything seems okay I think. Nothing really seriously disastrous happened. Everything is in track. For the past two weeks, I realized, "I think I'm ready to face the real world" LOL. No. I don't know yet. But I must...soon. :))))) Time flies so fast. I feel like it was just yesterday that I was back at home, surfing the net and looking for culinary schools. But a month and a half more, I'm gonna be a chef!!! wow. Anyway, for the past two weeks it has been a hell. I was sick. And yes till now. Pretty lost I must say! But to be fair enough, I'm still ok. just ok. ;p FECK! But ANYWAY... this week we made...

One time last week, my friends and I went to this all-you-can-eat japanese yakiniku place at Sukhumvit. It's situated inside the City State Tower and it's called Giants Yakiniku. The place is not bad at all, given the fact that it's always jam packed and the cue line never goes down, so expect a little something off. But all in all it was ok. We had 5 kinds of meat to grill. We had marinated chicken, kalbi beef, pork slice, and salmon and mushroom. All was good. ALL YOU CAN EAT. The bill was around 500 Baht each. Not bad at all.

And for the past week, I met Cha's friend, Carissa, who came to Bangkok for a vacation. She was nice, shy and smiley. I went back to Khao San again and this time I think it was my 10th time. I just can't stop going there. People are nice...beers are pricey (lol). And it's a great place to meet new people. That night I was eating this street food pad thai, when suddenly this Australian guy come up to me and asked me "are those chilis??!?!?#?$#?" I said no, those are dried shrimps. He said back "oh i like your hair", I said thanks. Just like that, without even saying "hi". It's great to meet foreign people in a foreign land. Juzz like dutt.

Okay let's move to early this morning. It was the Miss Universe Pageant 2010. I was so happy for Maria Venus Raj. She got in the top 15 and in the top 5!!! She graduated college with honors but I didn't really get the Q&A segment. It was like an acceptance speech rather than the actual answer. Here's the video...

I think she was just too overwhelmed about the moment. Too nervous. But props to her. She looked stunning.

ANYWAY!!! time to go now. Class at 8:30 tomorrow!

That's all from Bangkok!!!

XOXO
